This morning I’ve been thinking about God’s plans. He really has a lot of moves to make for a lot of people in order for things to work out for the good of those who love Him. Each of our lives, our desires, our hopes are tied to the lives of someone else…of multiple people. Just think of how many people are impacted when God answers one of your prayers.
What came to mind was the image of a Rubik’s cube. Imagine you knew nothing about a Rubik’s cube and the end goal of having all the sides be the same color. Imagine watching someone solve a Rubik’s cube for the first time….so many back and forth motions and seemingly pointless and repetitive moves. And, it seems to go on forever. You wonder what’s the point of all these moves when you don’t seem to be getting anywhere.
And then you notice how a move on one side of the cube affects the look on three other sides of the cube. It seems impossible that there is a solution in which all these repetitive, back and forth movements can actually create solid colors on all four sides of the cube.
Yet, with each move and with patient endurance on the part of the observer, the Rubik’s cube master eventually makes the final move that puts all things in order and each side of the cube is its own color. Finally, with the last click of a row, the cube is completed and it is good for all sides of the cube! Each side is finally now its own solid color!
That’s how God is working. He knows the plans He has for you…plans of hope and of a future. He is making small moves that might feel repetitive, that might seem pointless. You may be thinking there is no way all these little moves are going to add up to something good for you. But the solution is not just for you, it’s for others too…those who are directly impacted by your life. This is where you need to wait patiently and remind yourself that each move God makes in your world inevitably impacts another’s. And He wants good for all of us, so He will be making a lot of moves until the outcome is good for all those who are impacted.
Wait patiently, keep being thankful for all the little moves He is making, and trust His process and His timing. Keep running the race that He has put in front of you, not comparing yourself to others and how they are doing things. Just keep your eyes on God and move your feet to be in line with the next immediate steps He is directing you to take. These small steps are like the clicks of a Rubik’s cube move. I know it can be hard to do this and sometimes hard to believe it’s all going to work out, but He really does have a good solution for you.
To illustrate this, here’s a great video (https://youtu.be/5DCo_bZ0PEo?si=Qe7zFiXVBCsCTZIz) of someone solving a Rubik’s cube. It’s actually just the solver’s hands which I think is a cool way to imagine God’s hands working your problem. Try watching it in a slow speed to really notice how many repetitive and seemingly pointless moves are made. I actually got a little impatient while watching it (how fitting, LOL) and wondered if the solver was really going to complete the cube. Then, before I knew it, the last move was made. I didn’t even realize it would be the last move. Then, it seemed the cube was suddenly complete and it was so satisfying to see each side have its own solid color that I almost forgot that it actually took some time to complete!
